Wade boasts more than three decades of invaluable experience in state and local matters. His expertise spans various industries including aerospace, software, online retail, public entities, exempt educational institutions (both schools and universities), and healthcare. Prior to establishing DSF, Wade held the position of Senior Manager at Deloitte in their Multistate Tax Services Group. He also served as an auditor for the State of California.
Wade’s proficiency extends to the application of sampling theories in sales/use tax audits and credit/refund studies, encompassing both statistical and non-statistical methodologies. Notably, he played a pivotal role in collaborating with California and Washington State to enhance their advanced computer-assisted auditing programs, significantly shaping their existing audit frameworks.
Wade earned a Masters in Business Taxation from the University of Southern California. He graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude, from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Additionally, he has dedicated over two decades to serving on the Executive Advisory Committee for the College of Business and Public Policy at CSUDH.
Lyle brings an impressive wealth of experience, spanning over 30 years in state and local sales and use tax audit and recovery. Presently, he spearheads DSF’s sales and use tax compliance team, overseeing the filing of more than 4000 tax returns annually. His industry expertise covers a broad spectrum including multi-state retailers, manufacturers, aerospace companies, newspapers, financial printers, insurance companies, biotechnology, and high technology firms.
Prior to establishing DSF, Lyle held the position of Director of Sales & Use Taxes at a state and local tax recovery firm in Newport Beach, California. He also gained valuable experience at Deloitte’s multistate tax services group in Costa Mesa, where he supported sales and use tax recovery and audit representation services.
Lyle commenced his career as a state tax auditor with the CDFTA (formerly California State Board of Equalization) and later served two years on Member Claude Parrish’s tax advisory committee. He is a proud graduate of California State University, Dominguez Hills.
Jim held the position of National Partner-in-Charge of sales and use tax at Deloitte, where he successfully led a team of 150 professionals nationwide. His tenure with Deloitte commenced in 1989, following an impactful period with the CDTFA (formerly California State Board of Equalization). During his time from 1985 to 1989, Jim contributed significantly to the compliance and audit divisions.
Jim’s professional focus centers predominantly on sales and use taxes, Los Angeles City Business tax, and other gross receipt and excise taxes. He has catered to a diverse clientele ranging from Fortune 1000 corporations to middle-market and emerging companies. His industry expertise encompasses public education and universities, manufacturing, utilities, aerospace & defense, retail, healthcare, biotech, telecommunications, and electronic commerce.
Jim’s academic achievements include a Masters in Taxation degree from USC, complemented by a Bachelor of Science degree from San Diego State University.
Scott brings to the table over 25 years of extensive experience in state and local tax matters. Previously, he held the position of Director of Income Taxes at a local firm specializing in business incentive tax issues. Scott’s expertise lies in various tax credits, including the Research and Development Credit, Manufacturer’s Investment Credit, Enterprise Zone credits, and specific manufacturing-based sales and use tax credits.
Proficient in a wide array of database interrogation and analysis software packages, Scott leads DSF’s information and database analysis group. This team is dedicated to auditing through a company’s information system, striving for enhanced efficiency and recovery. Drawing from his prior experience at Vought Aircraft Industries, Inc., Scott possesses in-depth knowledge of major manufacturing operations.
Scott serves clients across diverse industries such as manufacturing, distribution, healthcare, banking, retail, food service, insurance, biotechnology, and high technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from the University of Texas, Arlington.
Roderick has nearly three decades of expertise in state and local sales and use audit, recovery, and consulting. Joining DSF in 2008, he has worked hard to obtain Partner status in 2023, where he specializes in providing state and local sales and use tax audit and advisory services, primarily within the healthcare sector.
His professional journey commenced with the State of California, where he served in both compliance and audit divisions from 1995 to 2001. Subsequently, he transitioned to Deloitte’s multistate tax services group in Los Angeles, CA, before joining a firm in Huntington Beach, CA. In these roles, his responsibilities included audit and recovery services, taxability decision studies, and transactional analysis and planning.
Roderick earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.
